Student opportunities

SWPH partners with academic institutions to offer student placements that align with our programs and provide hands-on learning in public health fields.

Student placement guidelines

  • All placements must be arranged by your school’s academic coordinator

  • We accept placements for fields like medicine, nursing, nutrition, and more

Placement requirements

To be eligible, you may need:

  • Enrollment in a recognized academic program

  • Workplace insurance coverage

  • Up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination as per SWPH policy

  • A current Vulnerable Sector Police Check filed with your school

  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for work-related travel

Volunteer opportunities

Currently, we do not have volunteer positions available. Thank you for your interest in volunteering with SWPH. We only accept applications for posted opportunities.

Public Health Emergency Response:
Sometimes emergencies require additional volunteers. If there’s a need for emergency recruitment, positions will be posted on our website.

Application process

No, SWPH only accepts resumes for specific job postings. Check our current openings and apply for roles that match your skills.

If you need help with your application, email our Human Resources team and we’ll get back to you within 48 business hours.

We contact applicants only if they’re selected for pre-screening or an interview. Since we hire for many roles, we can’t provide individual updates. In some cases, the process can take a few months—thank you for your patience!

If you’re selected, we’ll contact you for an interview. All offers of employment depend on a clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check.

 

Interviews

Here’s what to expect:

  • Screening: HR reviews your application, including your resume and answers to screening questions.

  • Phone call (if needed): HR may contact you to confirm qualifications, discuss salary, and check your availability for an interview.

  • Interview invitation: If selected, we’ll contact you by email to arrange a date and time.

  • Format: Interviews may be virtual (on Microsoft Teams) or in-person. For some roles, a skills test (e.g., presentation or written task) may be required.

  • Final decision: After interviews, panel members independently score candidates to choose the best fit.

Yes, here’s how to prepare:

  • Use a computer with a camera for the best experience. A smartphone is an option but not ideal.

  • All remote interviews are conducted on Microsoft Teams.

  • You’ll receive detailed instructions on joining the interview in your confirmation email.

  • SWPH is a scent-free workplace, please avoid scented products
  • The dress code is business casual

  • Details about parking and location will be in your confirmation email

Criminal Records Checks

Yes, all staff must complete either a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) or a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC), depending on the role.

No, you don’t need to apply beforehand. We’ll ask for the check after you receive a conditional offer of employment. We’ll guide you on which type of check is needed and how to complete it.
