File Search Request
A file search is used to find any outstanding public health requirements for businesses inspected by a Public Health Inspector. You must submit a File Search Request at least 14 business days before the closing date of the property transaction. The request must include the current owner's written consent.
Who can request a file search?
Law offices or representatives may request a file search for businesses such as:

Food premises (e.g., restaurants, catering services)

Seasonal farm worker housing

Public recreational water facilities (e.g., swimming pools, spas, hot tubs)

Public facilities with private wells (e.g., campgrounds, trailer parks)

Personal service settings (e.g., hair salons, nail salons, tattoo shops, barbershops)

Licensed daycares, group homes, lodging homes, retirement homes, and long-term care facilities

Premises regulated by the Smoke-Free Ontario Act
