Pregnancy and becoming a new parent can bring lots of emotions. You might feel excited, anxious, or even overwhelmed. If you’re struggling with feelings like sadness or worry, you’re not alone. The Balanced Beginning program is here to support you with professional help in a caring, safe space.

What is the Balanced Beginning program?

Balanced Beginning is a free, 9-week mental health program. It uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), a way of understanding and improving how you think and feel. Public health nurses lead the sessions and help support pregnant people and new parents with babies up to 18 months old.

The program can help if you are feeling:

  • Sad or overwhelmed after having a baby

  • Worried or anxious about being a parent

  • Stuck in feelings of sadness or depression

Here’s what you’ll get in the program:

  • Weekly group sessions held online in a safe and supportive space

  • Simple, practical ways to manage anxiety and depression

  • Tips to set goals and feel more in control of your mental health

You don’t need a doctor’s referral to join, and all sessions are private

How do I sign up for the Balanced Beginning program?

  2. A public health nurse will contact you to confirm your spot and answer your questions

  3. Once you’re signed up, you’ll get all the information you need to join the sessions online
