Learning to breastfeed is a journey, and it’s okay to ask for help. Surround yourself with support from family, friends, and community resources. Take your time and be patient with yourself as you and your baby learn together.

What are signs that you may need breastfeeding support?
Here are some signs that you might need extra help:

Your baby breastfeeds less than eight times in 24 hours

Your baby’s stools are still dark after day four
-
Fewer than three stools and six wet diapers in 24 hours after day four

Baby seems very sleepy, fussy, or restless
-
You experience sore, cracked, or painful nipples
-
Breast pain or signs of a possible infection (e.g., flu-like symptoms)
