Recreational camps are a great way for kids to have fun, make friends, and create lasting memories. To help you run a safe and successful camp, Southwestern Public Health inspects camps in St. Thomas, Oxford and Elgin counties.

How to open your recreational camp

Running a camp might feel overwhelming, but we’re here to help! Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Fill out the application: Complete the Application to Open a Recreational Camp (PDF). This form gives us the details we need about your camp.

  2. Get ready for an inspection: Contact us at 1-800-922-0096 to schedule an inspection to make sure your camp follows the safety rules.

  3. Check out the safety guides: Use the resources below to get your swimming and food facilities ready.
