Southwestern Public Health reporting measles exposures in the community

Southwestern Public Health is advising the community of additional measles exposures.

The exposures occurred at the following locations and timeframes:

Fred Bodsworth Public Library of Port Burwell

21 Pitt St. Port Burwell, Ontario

  • March 15, 2025 - 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Straffordville Public Library

9366 Plank Rd, Straffordville, Ontario

  • March 15, 2025 - 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
  • March 17, 2025 - 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM

If you were present at these locations during these timeframes, were born in 1970 or later, and are not up to date with your vaccinations, please call public health at 1-800-922-0096. This includes those who were only present briefly as measles is highly contagious and can linger in the air for up to two hours.

Find out what actions to take if you were exposed to measles on our website. You can also view a list of all known recent measles exposure locations and timelines, vaccination guidance, and a Measles Exposure Risk Assessment tool to understand if you are at-risk from a measles exposure.

Southwestern Public Health issues measles exposure notices when we are unable to contact all individuals who may have been exposed at specific locations and timeframes.

Measles is a reportable disease of public health significance that can result in complications such as diarrhea, ear infections, and pneumonia. Rarely, measles can cause brain infections and death.
