SWPH Confirms First Block of Appointments for Ages 80+ Booked on First Day

Southwestern Public Health COVID-19 Vaccine
Limited appointments still available for Indigenous 55+ and eligible health care workers

Southwestern Public Heath wants the community to know that while the first block of appointments for those aged 80 and over have been booked for the week of March 15, it is expected 5,000 new appointments will be available to eligible individuals for the week of March 22.

“As expected, there was a tremendous response to the announcement that appointments were available in St. Thomas and in Woodstock. For our first week of operation, we had a relatively small number of doses available and they booked up quickly. However, we’ll have more than double the number for the following week – and the week after that,” says Jaime Fletcher, Program Manager of the COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force.

The public health unit assures residents that there will be vaccine for everyone who wants it and that the number of appointments will keep increasing as the supply increases and then stabilizes.

On Monday March 15, 2021 beginning at 8 a.m., eligible residents of Oxford County, Elgin County and the City of St. Thomas should again call 226-289-3560 or visit www.covidvaccinelm.ca to book into the next available block of appointments.
