12 - 17 Year Olds Eligible for Accelerated Second Doses & Booking Support Available

Southwestern Public Health is committed to ensuring local youth can be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before the beginning of the 2021/22 school year.

Starting Monday July 5, 2021 youth aged 12 – 17 who have received their first dose of an mRNA vaccine, are eligible to receive their second dose of an mRNA vaccine a minimum of 28 days after the first.

This means that pending appointment availability, youth in Oxford County, Elgin County and the City of St. Thomas may rebook for an earlier second dose. Second doses will be booked as close to 28 days after first doses as possible.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW:

• Pfizer, which is currently the only COVID-19 vaccine approved for youth in Canada, is available for youth at all Southwestern Public Health operated mass immunization clinics.
• Book first doses online at www.covidvaccineLM.ca or by calling our COVID-19 Response Centre at 1-800-922-0096 x 9 (Mon-Fri, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm) and our team will be happy to assist you.
• Rebook an earlier second dose appointment online at www.covidvaccineLM.ca. If you have any problems with the rebooking process, again, please call our COVID-19 Response Centre and our team will help you out.
• The Southwestern Public Health Same Day Vaccination List, which functions as a “cancellation list” prioritizes 12 – 17-year-olds. If youth are available for same day appointments, please have them sign up for this service.
