Southwestern Public Health hosts respiratory vaccination clinics
Beginning today, Southwestern Public Health has expanded its respiratory vaccination clinics to welcome the general public in-line with Ontario’s respiratory vaccination rollout schedule.
“Over the past two weeks, the first shipments of COVID-19 and influenza vaccines have been delivered to local health care providers, hospitals, and congregate settings,” says Colleen Brett, Manager of COVID-19 Response at Southwestern Public Health. “The health sector has been focused on getting doses in arms for priority populations and those at high-risk of severe complication from a respiratory infection. It’s now time to offer clinics to others living in the community.”
Public health has limited appointments available ONLY for children 6 months to 5 years old (and their families) who are unable to receive their vaccination at a local pharmacy. Their appointments can be booked online here for COVID-19 or here for Influenza.
Public health will also be offering COVID-19 vaccination clinics throughout the community for the general public. No appointments are necessary and, while supplies last, influenza vaccine (NO high dose) will also be offered. People are advised to wait at least 6 months between their last dose of a COVID-19 vaccine or infection before receiving another dose. Visit swpublichealth.ca/covid19 for a list of clinic dates, times, and locations.
Respiratory season immunization can also be arranged through your primary care provider or a pharmacy. Visit https://www.ontario.ca/vaccine-locations/ for participating pharmacy locations across Ontario.
